About the Author
Me Ra Koh earned a masters degree in teaching for the purpose of learning to speak to the brokenhearted. A date rape survivor and overcomer in Christ, Me Ra today travels around the country, teaching writing workshops and speaking to young people and women about date rape. In 1998, New Life Clinics featured her story in their tenth- anniversary celebration. Me Ra and her husband live in Washington state.

An amazing soul

I didn't know Me Ra was an author until I met her. She would mention date rape as someone talking about when they first became engaged to their husband: with reverence to a difficult time in her life, but with emotional ease that only someone whom had dealt with great trauma and had overcome could do. To know her in person is to become exceedingly aware that she has no inner demons. That she has gone through great pain, vulnerability, degradation and hardship is true, but she bears no scars. People that have experienced trauma usually have "issues" remaining. To meet her is to become acutely aware that she doesn't have any "issues" because she has dealt with the grief associated with the rape, in all its forms. She is my role model for overcoming, and becoming whole.
When I see her, I can only think to myself of mirroring her restorative process. If she could endure and become well again, then I want to follow the same path she took in my personal emotional healing.
This book is her story. I use it as an example for my life. The One Way is God, and she will show you why. When all others make you question humanity, you're left with nothing to believe in; for humanity can bring much destruction on the individual. God's way is a path of hope and belief, of restoration. Read and discover this for yourself.

Most people go through life not realizing how powerful certain events can be in shaping their lives by ignoring them and choosing not to face them and resolve them, this book shows a woman who not only faced and resolved a tragic event in her life but how she used it to reach people and give them hope when dealing with tragedy. I suggest that whether you are a woman dealing with date rape or someone that hasn't let go or faced their tragedy and hurt.

A Courageous Story of Hope and Redemption

It is a big step for a Christian publisher to be talking about a subject which has too often been ignored --date rape. This book, which tells of Me Ra's personal story of abuse and restoration, will be healing, informing and encouraging to anyone who has been on either side of sexual abuse. It is also a must-read for anyone planning on being involved in any kind of pastoral ministry (which, in a sense, is every person) --for we see and talk to people everyday who have gone through painful sexual experiences, yet we can hardly imagine how many actually have. While Me Ra's story is intimately tied to her Christian faith, it is accessible to all mature readers. Way to go Me Ra for sharing with us your heart and your story of hope! May this type of courage and vulnerability continue to be shown by Christians.

Thorough Research

This book makes a good companion to the Four Imāms by Muhammad Abu Zahra (d.1974) but as a standalone book it falls a little flat. The contents are laid out well making the structure easy to follow as well as making for an excellent resource guide as it is superbly researched and referenced as you would come to expect from the works of Shaykh Gibril Fouad Haddad, yet it is lacking in meeting the expectation you derive from its title. It contains many sub-sections with seamless unsystematic information about each Imām in their respective chapter. There is a lack of a structure even though the selection of material is exemplary. It often goes on a tangent pertaining to contemporaries or students of the Imāms which is welcomed for additional information purposes but it lacks the crux for which it will be purchased.

It is rather a collection of anecdotes which although I enjoyed very much, I'm not sure if others who may purchase this wanting to know about the lives and schools of the Four Imāms will appreciate. It surprisingly has no mention of the methodological approaches of the Imāms to the sources from which their schools developed and took shape, hence despite its large size; it is rather limited in scope. Although this work has issues (some possibly related to Nashqbandi vs. Shadhilli), I would still recommend it. I was highly appreciative of the scrupulous research of Shaykh Haddad and his referencing of everything he quotes, that alone makes it worthy of owning as a rich resource and the material it does contain on the Imāms is commendable, only it is not a thorough study of their schools or even their lives. However, you will benefit from this work but I recommend you read the work of Muhammad Abu Zahra first to get the most out of this book.

If you fancy learning about Islam, and understanding Sunni Islam better, this is a must have. The writer has a talent and makes history interesting, more so than many others I have read who have some talent. Very in depth and accurate, covers what is needed to be covered.
