Image fare of old – beautifully executed

The introduction introduces us to Lady Pendragon aka Guinevere, heir to Excalibur, and how she has to fight against Saxons and her own kind.

We then flash forward to our era and Jennifer Drake, a scholar specialising in the life of Guinevere. She is kidnapped so that she can become the new Lady Pendragon and deal with Morgana Le Fey and Mordred again. Lots of flashbacks reveal how Guinevere fared.

Very wordy with explanation and angst in places, it is a good read with a science fiction element at the end.

Lady Pendragon Volume 1 by Matt Hawkins Art By: Ron Adrian, Hector Gomez, John Stinsma
Have you ever seen the movie Camelot? Maybe you're read about Sir Arthur and the Knight's Round Table? If not, this graphic novel will fill you in on some of the plot of that story. If you did, you won't recognize the women. They're all long, lean, and full of vigor. The warrior women in this story are all beautiful and partially clad.

Image Comics let me read this graphic novel for review (thank you). It has just been published and you can grab a copy HERE.

I like hard hitting graphic novels and strong women characters. You've got both in this collection. This is a mix of past and present and gods and man and good and evil. There's war going on, one country is always trying to conquer another, and there are traitors in the midst.

When Lady Pendragon takes command, the soldier who wanted the position works with her opposition. The priest is not who he appears to be. Lancelot keeps returning to life in other times and dying again. Mordred is still on the loose.

This is busy series with times mixing together and the legends of the past coming alive again. It was an interesting read with luscious looking women and buckets of blood. Graphic novels are just that but they're fun to read. Give it a try.

Pretty much 90's era Image garbage

This is pretty much 90's era Image garbage. It's so wordy and full of exposition, your focus starts drifting on to the next page, like "Are they done talking yet?". The men are in full armor while the women fight in one piece bathing suits, and the armor must make all the women cold by the way they are drawn (very perky). Some of the actual dialog was "my faithful computer" and "one such as yourself could defeat a man of pure Aryan stock". Who talks like this? The book keeps switching between three different times but with little indication of which one the story is currently in. A different art style or coloring technique with each era would have served the story better.

Love The Story

I must say that I really enjoyed this alternative take on the Bold and Beautiful story by centering on Taylor and Bill. Two physically beautiful people who are polar opposites and are adversaries to boot being romantically paired actually worked for me. It’s just too bad that the writers weren’t prolific enough to see what a dynamic pairing they could have had with them on the actual show if they had of only taken that path in the story line. I’ve always been a diehard fan of Taylor on the show and it was nice revisiting that character again in writing. The one fault I have with this story is that it is way too short; but that may have been Shannon Curtis’ ulterior motive to make it short. Maybe she was testing the waters to see the readers’ response to her story and if there would be a demand for more stories featuring Taylor and Bill romantically involved. Well mission accomplished in my case at least. I would definitely be one of the first to purchase. Well done Ms. Curtis.

Romance with Bill and...Taylor?

When I first heard about this book series based inn characters of the bold and the beautiful, I was unsure. The author was very truthful to the characters. In the current series, Bill is involved with Brooke, but what if circumstances cause him to see Taylor in a different view? Very faithful to characters. If you are or have never been a fan of BB, this book is for you.

Being a long term Taylor fan, I enjoyed seeing a strong sexy Taylor who won out over Brooke for a change. Wish the writers on the actual show would bring her back and write her this way so her fans would feel better about their favorite more like she was in the early years of Tridge. I'd like more stories about Taylor.

WAKE UP

This book should be a "must" read for all health care professionals who deal with adolescents. It should be a "must" read for all school adminitrators, teachers, and counsellors. There is a physiologic reason teenagers have trouble falling asleep at night and a physiologic reason they have trouble waking up in the morning. One only wonders how much poor performanc in school, teenage depression, and teenage accidents are due to poor societal understanding of sleep physiology in adolescents. This book addresses these issues.

The book makes the very strong point that teenagers may not have as much control over their sleep patterns, especially when one takes into account the societal pressures of early school start times, after-school activities, after-school work responsibilites, and homework. A novel approach to this problem which results in later high school start times appears to be one very effective solution, which is well presented in this volume

Dr. Carskadon, the world's leading expert on adolescent sleep, has assembled an internationally recognized group of authors in this very informative book. It is extraordinarily well written, consistently edited, and is packed with information that should be valuable to the layman as well as to the sleep professional.

This book should be read by every physician, nurse practitioner, physician's assistant, psychologist, social scientist, school counsellor, school adminitrator, school board member, parent, and teacher in the country.
