Good Format accurate examples D/L code is there

Well I just D/L The code as well as the sql .bak file all installed as directed.

The book is in a good format I've been doing .Net 1.0 and 1.1 since beta 1 2.0 I have not done much I found this book to be just what is needed to find the answers to the 2.0 questions, if you are a 1.1 experienced programmer and are moving or porting to 2.0 this is well worth the under $50.00 price tag. I can see keeping this one handy for a year or so.

Good book for some purposes, not quite cooked

There are lots of tips and tricks in this book on ASP.NET 2.0 presented in a "Problem: Solution" format that make it a worthwhile timesaver for experienced developers. Code is shown for both VB.NET and C#.

The problem I have is that is little or no discussion of alternatives or the circumstances when a particular recipe should be used. This means inexperienced developers might implement recipes that work for their immediate problem but add maintenance, performance or architectural issues down the road.

For example, there are 72 pages on using the DataGrid control. Except for backward compatibility there is no valid reason to use the DataGrid in ASP.NET 2.0 -- use the GridView control instead. I'd go so far as to say use of the DataGrid in 2.0 is deprecated -- don't do it in new code.

Likewise the data binding examples use SqlDataSource -- never XMLDataSource or, importantly, ObjectDataSource. ObjectDataSource is the way to go when we want to build a modern architecture application where we have separated business logic, data access code, and the UI.

It appears that this book was written quickly to get something out for the 2.0 market before the "2.0ness" of the recipes was fully baked in.

Good Way to Get Started with ASP.NET 2.0 - Wish it had more advanced topics

For those transitioning from ASP.NET 1.x this is a fantastic introduction to learning how things should be done with 2.0. The book is well-written, concise, and easy to absorb the concepts it presents.

I've always loved the "Cookbook" format, which is to present a list of tasks 100 or so tasks that you might want to accomplish, and then give detailed instructions on how to accomplish each one. The one thing I would like to have seen, and the reason it didn't receive 5 stars, is that the book focuses on introductory tasks. Since I've been working with 2.0 for several months I already knew how to do most of the items they discussed.

Overall, this book will serve as a great reference.

As the pig stands atop the Mayor's chair, Miss Prudence suggests that the pig runs the city but the spotted pig runs on.

Linda Stanek, who situates this story in the days of parasols and horse-drawn carriages, gives readers a rollicking romp through the streets of an industrial-age city. Lauren Castillo's retro illustrations are perfectly matched to the time period and add significantly to the humor in the story.

Kindergarten-Grade 2—According to the jacket flap, this story is set in "a turn-of-the-century city," but the location and, in fact, which century are not explicitly stated. A wandering pig is startled by a passing carriage and somehow ends up with Miss Prudence on his back. The two proceed to tear through the streets, careening into numerous people and things and taking a bit of something away with them with each encounter. In the style of a cumulative tale, the items are all listed with each new addition followed by the refrain, "but the pig ran on." Various references, such as the Barnum American Museum, which was on Broadway from 1841 until it burned in 1865, identify the locale as New York City. The roaming pigs, which were largely blamed for the cholera epidemic of 1849, were driven from the city at that time. Both of these facts would seem to indicate an early-19th-century setting. Details of the text and illustration are occasionally at odds with the time period, such as the bright red uniform worn by the police officer—NYPD uniforms have changed since their adoption in 1844, but they have always been blue. There are also pieces that are at odds with what would seem intended as a lighthearted romp. The pig runs past "a long line of immigrants with tired faces" and snatches an orphan when running past the Home of the Friendless. The illustrations frequently do not support the text, with the items supposedly grabbed by the pig or Miss Prudence missing from some of the pictures. This is a super fun story. Kids will love the crazy antics as Miss Prudence holds on and the pig runs through the streets of New York, leaving behind merry mayhem. And besides the fun, you get a taste of New York City at the turn-of-the-century. Lauren Castillo's illustrations are perfectly suited to author Linda Stanek's delightful story.

Wonderful Book to Read over and over!

This book is wonderful! - the reference to words, places and objects that are not in other kids books are great for expanding your childs vocabulary. I have a 5 and 8 year old and they ask me to read this over and over again. The kids run around the house saying "Oh Land O' Goshen" - they think it is hysterical. I love the story too - it is very cute. I can't wait for Linda Stanek to write another book - I will be first in line to buy it!

A good place to start.

This ebook quickly covers many different areas of your life where you can declutter and simplify. It is organized into different rooms of your home and different areas of your life. This talks about common trouble spots like the bedroom and bathroom. It also gets into organizing your digital life and friends. There are even tips on relationships and eating habits. The advice the ebook gives is pretty general. It is more of a guide to get you started with organizational skills. It lists a bunch of different areas of life where change can happen to make life simpler and less stressful. There are not many detailed or specific "things to do" in this ebook. This is more of a place to start to see the places in your life where you may need change.

There are a few helpful tips and things I have been overlooking for years. But most of the advice is logical stuff or things that I already do. This is geared more to people who are really overwhelmed and need a guide of where to start. It is a quick easy read so you might pick up some tricks.

Getting rid of clutter and becoming more mindful are there at the same time. I find the book to be informative as the author covers lots of spaces and objects for decluttering, but they are obvious, though it’s good to see the list and follow. I wish I could get more specific and interesting tips to feel really motivated to do it step-by –step without even a day gap.

I found a lot of errors in the book--words repeated, incomplete sentences. The tips are OK, but I didn't learn much I didn't already know. However, it is a good book for someone just starting out trying to organize.
